Welcome to CatInvoice! CatInvoice is a state-of-the-art client-side web application designed to craft, edit, and manage professional invoices in seconds. By combining a local-first design philosophy, an integrated AI Copilot (Tabby), and an off-screen vector PDF renderer, CatInvoice delivers premium desktop-grade performance and visual excellence directly inside your web browser.

Local-First and Secure

Unlike traditional invoicing software, CatInvoice does not require an account, has zero trial limits, and stores 100% of your records and business settings securely on your own device's browser database. Your data never leaves your system.

Workspace Overview

The CatInvoice layout is divided into three key workspaces:

1. Sidebar Panel (The Inputs)

Located on the left side of the screen, the Sidebar houses the structured invoice inputs. Here you can configure:

  • Sender Details: Your name, business name, address, email, and phone.
  • Client Details: The recipient's billing info, including client address.
  • Invoice Metadata: Invoice numbers, payment terms, issue dates, and due dates.
  • Line Items List: Add, duplicate, reorder, or delete billing services, hours, or rates.
  • More Options Segment: Manage global tax percentages, flat or percentage discounts, custom payment instructions, currency groupings, and client notes.

2. Interactive Live Preview (The Paper Canvas)

Located in the center of the screen, the paper canvas displays an exact visual representation of your invoice sheet. Any edit made in the sidebar is reflected instantly on the canvas. You can also click directly on any element in the preview (such as titles, logo, bank details, or footer notes) to edit them in place.

3. Copilot Panel (The Assistant)

The AI Chat drawer allows you to prompt Tabby to make direct updates, apply changes, rewrite notes, translate language, or calculate amounts on your active invoice sheet. To open, click the "AI Copilot" bubble on the right side of the editor screen.

Quick Pro-Tip

If you have past clients or invoices saved in your browser, you can access them by clicking the Saved button in the top navigation bar. You can duplicate a previous draft to generate a fresh invoice with today's date in one click!

How to Create Your First Invoice

  1. Open the Invoice Editor Workspace.
  2. Under Business Info, upload your logo and fill out your business name/profile.
  3. Specify the Client Info for the recipient you are billing.
  4. Add your billing items, specifying the description, quantities, and unit rates.
  5. Select a visual style on the template selector toolbar.
  6. Review the central preview, click Download PDF in the top-right bar, and print or share your professional document!
