Is CatInvoice really free?
Yes. You can create, save, print, and download invoices without a paid plan or trial.
What to expect before you make an invoice
CatInvoice is intentionally straightforward. These answers explain what it does, where your records live, and what remains your responsibility.
Do I need to create an account?
No. CatInvoice opens directly to the editor. There is no account-based cloud invoice library.
Where are my invoices stored?
Drafts, saved invoices, reusable clients, and reusable line items are stored locally in the browser on your device. They are not automatically synced to CatInvoice servers.
How do I protect my saved invoices?
Export a JSON backup from Saved invoices and keep it somewhere you control. You can import that file later in another supported browser.
What does “session only” mean when I save?
It means the browser blocked durable storage. The invoice is available in the current tab session but may disappear when it closes, so export a backup or PDF immediately.
What information is required before I can save or export?
Add your business or name, a client name, and at least one described line item with a quantity and rate greater than zero.
Can I include a free or informational line item?
Yes. A row can have a zero value, but the invoice still needs at least one real priced row before it can be saved, printed, or exported.
Does CatInvoice check invalid amounts?
Yes. It blocks negative quantities, rates, tax, discounts, shipping, and payments. It also prevents discounts or payments from exceeding the amounts they apply to.
Which currencies are supported?
The editor includes a broad list of currencies. Symbols and decimal places follow the selected currency, including currencies with zero or three fractional digits.
Will CatInvoice remember my clients and services?
After invoices are saved, client and line-item suggestions can appear when you focus or type in the matching fields. Selecting a suggestion fills its stored details for review.
Can I duplicate an invoice?
Yes. Duplicate creates a fresh copy with a new ID, the next invoice number, today’s date, Draft status, and no recorded payment.
Can I customize the design?
Yes. Choose an invoice template, add your logo and business details, and include optional dates, addresses, notes, terms, payment instructions, and a payment watermark.
How do PDF download and printing work?
CatInvoice builds A4 output in the browser. Long invoices are divided into pages at sensible content boundaries, and browser printing uses print-safe row and totals rules.
Can CatInvoice send the invoice email for me?
No. It can open your email app with a prepared message, but you download and attach the PDF yourself. CatInvoice does not send client email from its servers.
Can several people share the same invoice library?
Not through CatInvoice. It is a local-first, single-browser tool without team accounts, shared cloud records, permissions, or approval workflows.
Can I use CatInvoice as accounting software?
No. CatInvoice makes and organizes invoices. It does not provide bookkeeping, expenses, bank reconciliation, payroll, tax filing, recurring billing, or payment processing.
Can I use it on a phone or tablet?
Yes. The editor and saved-invoice library are responsive, though reviewing a detailed invoice is usually easier on a larger screen.
